Idaho Fish and Game is seeking information on the closed season taking of a cow elk on August 16 in the Panhandle Region.

The fresh carcass of the animal was discovered in the East Fork of the Hayden Creek drainage.

Idaho Conservation Officer Rick Bogar located the carcass and determined the animal was shot below the right eye. The perpetrator of this crime took the front and hind quarters and backstraps. The remainder of the usable meat from this illegally taken elk was wasted.

Anyone with information on this incident should contact Bogar at Idaho Fish and Game, 208-769-1414; or contact the Citizens Against Poaching hotline at 208-632-5999.

Callers may remain anonymous and are eligible to receive a cash reward.
