Nearly 45,500 Apply For Kentucky Elk Hunt; Results To Be Posted Online - May. 04, 2010
FRANKFORT, Ky. ? Nearly 45,500 people from throughout the United States applied for this year?s quota elk hunts in Kentucky. Results will be available to applicants after 5 p.m. May 5 at fw.ky.gov, the Web site of the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources. Kentucky will issue 800 elk permits through its quota hunt lottery this year.

New State Record Certified For Bull Elk With Non-typical Antlers; Taken On Public Access Land - Feb. 15, 2010
Harrodsburg resident Terrell Royalty's 7x7 elk scored 372 6/8 in the Boone and Crockett Club scoring system, besting the old record of 367 7/8 taken in Harlan County in 2008. Royalty took his record elk from a wildlife management area in Knott County on Oct. 4, 2009.

Late Season Quota Cow Elk Hunt Drawing Results Posted Online - Dec. 17, 2009
Frankfort, Ky. - A list of hunters drawn for the late season quota elk hunt on private land is now posted online at the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources? Web site at fw.ky.gov. The hunt opens Jan. 23, 2010 and closes Feb. 5. Drawn hunters also will be notified by mail.

Somerset Man Wins Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Foundation's - Jun. 19, 2009
Frankfort, Ky. -Chris Godby of Somerset won a raffle for the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Foundation?s bull elk tag at the Salato Wildlife Education Center Bourbon Sampler on June 13. Godby was one of 1,138 people who purchased tickets for the raffle.

Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Commission Proposes Modifications to Elk Hunting Units at Special Called Meeting - May. 11, 2009
Frankfort, Ky. - The Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Commission today proposed some modifications to Elk Hunt Unit 6 (EHU) at a special called meeting in Frankfort. The Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Commission recommends all hunting, fishing and boating regulations for approval by the General Assembly and approves all expenditures by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources. All recommendations must be approved by legislators before they become law.

Second Chance Hunt Proposed to Reduce Damages Caused by Elk - Sep. 04, 2008
The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources has proposed an additional elk hunt to help landowners alleviate damage caused by elk. The proposal would allow thousands of hunters not chosen for the regular season hunts a second chance at a cow elk hunt. The proposed hunt still requires final approval by legislators.

Kentucky Elk Expo Set for September 12-13 Near Hindman - Sep. 03, 2008
The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife is joining with the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and the Knott County Tourism Commission to sponsor a Kentucky Elk Country Expo at the Knott County Sportsplex near Hindman on Sept. 12-13.
